About
MIMPRODUCTIONS
Mimproductions is the moniker for my queer cultural output. Since 1994, this has included promoting bands, organising same-sex tango classes, and working with
DiversCite (Montreal Pride), on numerous events including Flexx, Dyke Asylum, a women's bathhouse event, and the annual cabaret soiree
le Boudoir. I have been running
Meow Mix - an almost monthly cabaret and party - since 1997.
MiM THE ORGANISATRIX
I am currently the Artistic Director of
Studio 303, a busy Montreal centre for dance & interdiscipinary art, and a freelance organiser of cultural events for the lesbian community. Sometimes my 2 jobs overlap! Via Studio 303, I have organised workshops and residencies, exported an interdisciplinary programme of live work to Europe and Toronto, and brought international performing artists to Montreal for several events, including the Edgy Women Festival. Within the queer community, I am best known for creating le Boudoir, an annual Vaudeville-style cabaret event, and Meow Mix parties featuring performances and DJs.
MIM THE ARTISTE
I am also a performer, filmmaker and DJ. I’ve worked with various choreographers and often collaborate with Nathalie Claude, performing in her 2003 vaudeville Émotions au Salon, and in the critically acclaimed Les filles de Séléné, a dance-theatre production which enjoyed two runs in 1999 & 2001. I have had roles in independent films and made-for-tv series, and have directed three short hommages to the silent film era, Bonne Fête, Fannie dans le temps, and It Takes 2 to Tango, each of which feature my flapper alter-ego, Fannie Nipplebottom, who is a recurring stage character at le Boudoir. In addition, I choreograph for a dainty burlesque troupe called La Flor de la Canela, who regularly grace the Boudoir stage.

ROSITA, Fannie Nipplebottom's beloved canine co-star.
BUILDING COMMUNITY
In 2003, I was awarded a Prix Arc-en-ciel for ten years of outstanding contribution to queer culture in Montreal – which makes me an award-winning lesbian! Seriously though, I am preoccupied with nurturing & stimulating creativity, shaping culture and creating exciting presentation parameters. Although booming economically, Montreal's gay village is not particularly art-supportive. Our community centre is practically invisible, and the local gay press has a very mainstream take on queer culture. Yet our community is extremely vibrant, and independent events abound – promoted mostly via word of mouth. For this reason, I publish a bilingual monthly email newsletter to promote independent cultural events and listings to the lesbian community and its extended family. Write to
